BEAD-Biodiversity Education Aquatic Discovery

Gecko Clan Landcare Network team

The BEAD program has been one of GMLN’s most successful and long-term projects. BEAD - Biodiversity Education Aquatic Discovery - is a program with the vision to connect people to nature so they can understand the relationship between our resource use and how that impacts on our environment. The BEAD project has designed both a school and adult program varying slightly depending on the year.

Awe and wonder are at the heart of this educational project with mini-beasts being a favourite with students. John, long-term volunteer, provides the practical experience with spiders, water bugs and frogs so that students can appreciate nature more deeply. In 2023-2024, the adult education program exposed farming communities to permaculture, soil health, and the practices of regenerative agriculture.

The future looks bright when the BEAD education program can reach out to a greater proportion of our community, through school and farm events. For more information on this project please visit https://gmln.com.au/education/ .
