Living the Good Life

As farming systems and local demographics change, many new landholders face challenges in managing their properties sustainably. By providing guidance, resources, and skill-building opportunities, this project helps people make informed decisions that protect soil, water, and biodiversity across the floodplains and strengthening community connections.

Workshops on soil, plant and animal nutrition, rabbit control, natural farming and planning for change help participants manage their properties more productively and sustainably. Events like the nest box workshop, wildflower walk, discovering rakali session and wildlife first aid response strengthen environmental awareness and encourage biodiversity protection. The native plant sale supports habitat restoration, while first aid training improves community safety and resilience. Collectively, these activities foster a more informed, connected and environmentally responsible community across the floodplains.

This project delivers strong environmental benefits by equipping landholders with the skills to manage their properties sustainably. Training in soil, plant and animal nutrition, rabbit control and natural farming supports healthier landscapes.  Together with activities such as the wildflower walk, nest box workshop, wildlife first aid and discovering rakali deepen understanding of local species and their needs.
