This project will build on foundational achievements along the Waring/mid Goulburn River in partnership with Taungurung Land and Water Council. On-ground works focusing on improving riparian health and aquatic habitat will be implemented to heal and care for Waring, fostering knowledge sharing and opportunities to work on Country together.
From 2021 to 2024 the organisations continued to develop a strong working partnership as well as build a shared vision and long-term plan to heal and care for the Waring (mid Goulburn). Goulburn Broken CMA and Taungurung Land and Water Council also delivered on-ground works at key riparian and off-channel wetland sites along the river.
From 2025-28, the Walking together with Waring Flagship Project will broaden its focus on delivering on-ground priorities on Waring.
The project works with land holders and land managers on opportunities to undertake targeted riparian and in-channel habitat works.
Ecological and cultural priority activities continue at identified high valued off-channel wetlands and lagoons.
The project will pursue opportunities to integrate with threatened fish conservation and environmental watering, for example.
