Project 2: Taking Care of Country

GB CMA will work with Taungurung Land & Waters Council and other land managers to deliver key aspirations and objectives identified by Taungurung Clans for healing Country.

GB CMA will work with Taungurung Land & Waters Council and other land managers to deliver key aspirations and objectives identified by Taungurung Clans for healing Country.

This will include Caring for Country via on-ground works, reading Country through monitoring and survey and governing Country through strategic planning and adaptive management plans for key areas of Country, including Reedy Lake.

The Taking Care of Country project will also work with Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation, land managers and private landholders to identify areas of key habitat such as rocky outcrops, wetlands and waterways that have been disconnected from natural systems through land clearing and modification.

The project will include on-ground works such as weed control and revegetation and will explore options for better land management of these important remnant areas of habitat.

The Goulburn Broken CMA acknowledges and respects First Nations people and the deep connection they have with their land and waters.

We acknowledge the Yorta Yorta and Taungurung people and their ancestors/forbears as Traditional Owners of the land and waters in the Goulburn Broken Catchment (and beyond). We value our ongoing partnerships with Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation and Taungurung Land and Waters Council for the health of Country and its people.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge and recognise the primacy of Traditional Owners obligations, rights and responsibilities to use and care for their traditional lands and waters.
