In 2024, all NRM regions across Australia received funding from the Australian Government to produce an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan for Biodiversity and Agricultural Natural Capital Assets.
Objectives were to identify regional priority Matters of National Environmental Significance (MNES) (threatened species/communities and Ramsar sites) and agricultural natural assets (e.g. soil, water, vegetation) and outline actions that could be taken at a regional scale to protect these assets before, during, and after emergencies such as bushfires, droughts, heatwaves, and floods.
GB CMA and partners will continue to advocate for funding to enable implementation of actions identified in the Plan and consider further opportunities and needs where possible. All information was correct at time of development from publicly available sources.
