Description:
Gecko Clan is an independent, not for profit organisation based centrally in Benalla. As a community landcare network, Gecko Clan supports landcare groups from Yarrawonga to the Strathbogie Ranges, Nagambie to Avenel, and locations in between. They implement network-scale projects around the themes of sustainable agriculture and biodiversity.

A motivated and connected community leads to positive change
The Gecko Clan Landcare Network together with their groups were successful with 5 Victorian Landcare Grants from the State Government providing $42,405.00 for Engagement events, Revegetation, Pest animal control, Pest plant control, Fencing and Nest boxes. Groups within the Gecko Clan focussed on Engagement Events bringing people within communities together
Whole Farm Planning with Warrenbayne Boho
Whole Farm Planning works. It has a proven track record of assisting farmers to think about their land in a holistic manner. The Warrenbayne-Boho Landcare Group are working with a younger cohort of farmers who are interested in managing their land by balancing farming practices and conservation.
The mix of people moving to live on both small acreage and large farms in Warrenbayne-Boho, are reaching out to understand their land management issues and the best practices to address them. The Whole Farm Planning courses provide great discussions between landholders whilst allowing participants to learn from each other to develop potential solutions for their properties.
Inspiring landholders to approach land management through a ‘Whole Farm Planning’ lens, is envisioned to be common practice into the future. Gecko are working with all Landcare groups within their region to see Whole Farm Planning integrated into their members practices.
