Landowners interested in hearing the results of a series of innovative farming projects are encouraged to attend next week’s Goulburn Broken Sustainable Agriculture Project Forum at Dookie College.
Farmers, Landcare and industry groups will present the findings of their projects, which they’ve collected over four years.
There will also be presentations from academic leaders in the field of sustainable farming.
The Goulburn Broken CMA’s Karen Brisbane-Bullock said the forum represented a unique opportunity to hear farmers talk about the results of trials they’ve run on their properties.
“Industry, community groups and individual farmers have run projects over four years on local properties to look at soil acidity, soil carbon and biodiversity on farm,” she said.
“There will also be findings about climate change effects, erosion and shelterbelts.”
Ms Brisbane-Bullock said David Smith from the Australian National University’s Faculty of Sustainable Farms would present on the benefits of restoring habitat.
“We are very lucky to have David share his insights. He has been monitoring ecological data on farms for more than 20 years and it will be fascinating to hear about his findings.”
