Time to get snapping

The call for photographs to feature in the popular Broken Boosey and Whroo Goldfields Conservation Management Network (CMN) annual calendar is now open.

Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority CMN Coordinator Janice Mentiplay-Smith said the calendar photo competition was a fantastic way for local people to showcase their photographic skills and plants and animals that make the place they call home so special.

“Each year the CMNs produce and distribute 5000 calendars across the region,” Ms Mentiplay-Smith said.

“The competition has been running for 10 years and entering it has become quite a tradition for keen photographers and nature watchers – last year 200 photos were submitted. Photos are selected by the CMN Committee, and the winners are invited to a lunch at the end of the year. ”

Photographs of local plants or animals in their natural state, insects, waterways or other natural features such as landscapes are the types of shots needed to feature in the calendar.

“We always receive extremely positive feedback on the quality of the calendar, and the fact it contains amazing images of the local environment taken by local people,” Ms Mentiplay-Smith said. “I encourage everyone to grab their camera and get out into the natural environment and see what they can find.”

For more information about the photo competition, or to submit a photo taken in the Broken Boosey or Whroo Goldfields CMN regions, email janicem@gbcma.vic.gov.au

Photos must be submitted by August 18.

Please note:  photos need to be a landscape, JPEG image, no smaller than 2MB.
