River Redgum saplings are being removed from Barmah Forest to protect the site's international environmental significance.

A work crew from the Traditional Owners of the forest, the Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation, has been busy cutting down the saplings for a number of months. The program is designed to protect native grasses which fail to grow under the canopy of the large redgum trees.
