Yea River users are encouraged to help shape the future management of the river by completing a short survey.

Goulburn Broken Catchment Manage Authority (CMA) River Health Officer Kirsten Roszak said the survey was part of the four-year Hooray for Yea project.

"The Hooray for Yea project is an exciting opportunity for landholders and the broader community to play an active role in enhancing the condition of this important river," Ms Roszak said.

"The Yea River was identified as a priority waterway for the Goulburn Broken CMA in its Regional River Health Strategy because it's the second largest tributary of the Upper Goulburn River and has important environmental, recreational and economic values. The Yea River is also significant as it is has one of the last populations of the critically endangered Macquarie Perch."

Ms Roszak said the survey should only take about 10 minutes to complete.

"We will use the responses to help identify what the community values about the river, what they see as the threats to its health and to determine the challenges and opportunities in the waterway's long-term management," she said.

The survey can be completed online at www.gbcma.vic.gov.au, or for a hard copy of the survey please email kirstenr@gbcma.vic.gov.au or phone 5736 0100.
