Landcare Links May 2021

ISSUE 05 / 14.05.2021

Welcome to Landcare Links May 2021. I was priviledged to attend a paddock walk and talk yesterday which focussed on managing erosion in hill country. I was impressed to hear how the landholder was able to revert his hills from rocky barren moonscapes to productive covered landscapes through investment in landclass fencing.

This landholder purchased the land then spent some time understanding his land by reading vegetation, slope and soil type. The next step was creating a property plan, then investing in fencing. He doubled the carrying capacity and maintained more ground cover in 6 years by implementing this process.

If you would like further information on hillslope erosion or on landclass fencing, please feel free to contact me on kerstiel@gbcma.vic.gov.au or 0437 310 840 as we are interested in knowing what your issues are within your landscape.

Warm Regards,
Kerstie
