The community is invited to grab their fishing rods and join the Goulburn Broken CMA’s Gone Fishing Day at
Victoria Park Lake, Shepparton on Sunday October 15.
This free family-friendly event is part of the nation-wide Gone Fishing Day, organised to promote and celebrate recreational fishing.
Goulburn Broken CMA’s Jo Wood said the event would run from 11am to 3pm with registrations from 10.30am.
"One of the great things about the Gone Fishing event is that no fishing licence is required so it’s the perfect opportunity for anyone who has ever wanted to try their hand at fishing to have a go," Ms Wood said.
"There will also be fishing demonstrations, kids activities and plenty of information about native fish and the importance of looking after a rivers, creeks and wetlands."
Mystery prizes will be given out throughout the day and there will be a free sausage sizzle run by the Shepparton Lions Club.
The event is supported by Goulburn Broken CMA in partnership with Trelly’s Tackle World, Goulburn Valley Water, RiverConnect, Waterwatch, Goulburn Murray Landcare Network, Victorian Fishing Authority, Primary Care Connect and the Victorian Government.
