Set your focus on nature shots

Friday 23 May, 2025
Entries for photographs for the 2026 Goulburn Broken Catchment calendar are now open.

The popular calendar is known for its stunning collection of local images taken by community members.

Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority CEO, Carl Walters, said the calendar photo competition was a great way for local people to showcase their photographic skills of plants, animals and the environment.

“Eighteen members of the public had their photos selected for this year’s calendar and of those, six were first time contributors,” Mr Walters said.

“The calendar photo competition continues to attract new interest from people who are out and about in nature with their camera, right across the catchment.

“Drone photography is proving popular in the entries and there was a great aerial shot of the Mid-Goulburn River selected this year.”

Email your images of birds, animals, plants, insects and natural places in the Goulburn Broken catchment to Janice Mentiplay-Smith: janicem@gbcma.vic.gov.au

To be eligible, photos must be between 2-10MB in landscape orientation (not portrait) and submitted as a jpeg file attachment - not as a picture inserted into the text of the email. Include a description of the image in the email subject line (e.g., ‘Australian Boobook’). No USBs.

The Broken Boosey Conservation Management Network Advisory Group assists with selecting the best photos for inclusion in the calendar. This project is coordinated by the Goulburn Broken CMA, with support from Moira Shire Council and Greater Shepparton City Council.

Entries close 13 August 2025.

The front cover image of this year’s 2025 Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority calendar is a stunning photo of an Australian Boobook by Richard Gregson of Numurkah.
