Residents encouraged to share rainfall readings

Residents living within the Whiteheads Creek catchment are encouraged to contact the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA) with information about the amount of rain that fell on their properties on Sunday, January 3.

Goulburn Broken CMA Senior Waterways and Floodplain Engineer Tom O’Dwyer said information from residents would help inform the current Whiteheads Creek Flood Mapping and Intelligence Study being undertaken by Mitchell Shire Council.

“The official Bureau of Meteorology gauge on Whiteheads Creek recorded 48mm, however, we have had some anecdotal information higher amounts fell in the creek catchment”, Mr O’Dwyer said.

“We urge residents to send in pictures, gauge recordings or any other useful information about the amount of rain that fell on their properties on January 3 to help us with our study.”

Pictures and information about the location and the amount of rain can be emailed to tomod@gbcma.vic.gov.au or phone 5797 4400.

The Goulburn Broken CMA acknowledges and respects First Nations people and the deep connection they have with their land and waters.

We acknowledge the Yorta Yorta and Taungurung people and their ancestors/forbears as Traditional Owners of the land and waters in the Goulburn Broken Catchment (and beyond). We value our ongoing partnerships with Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation and Taungurung Land and Waters Council for the health of Country and its people.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge and recognise the primacy of Traditional Owners obligations, rights and responsibilities to use and care for their traditional lands and waters.
