Northern Victorian irrigators must register their interest in Round 3 Farm Water Program funding by phoning the Farm Water Program hotline on (03) 5820 1147 and submitting their Whole Farm Plan electronically by 5pm Friday 31st of August.

Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA) CEO Chris Norman said since the hotline opened on 16th July, more than 200 inquiries had been received.

“There is obviously a lot of interest in this once-in-a-lifetime funding opportunity,” Mr Norman said.

“I urge irrigators who are keen to carry out farm improvements and obtain any funding available through our program to register with the Goulburn Broken CMA as soon as possible and not leave it until the last minute.”

Before phoning the hotline on (03) 5820 1147 irrigators should read the Frequently Asked Questions and check their eligibility for funding through the Farm Water Program by following the link on the Goulburn Broken CMA website www.gbcma.vic.gov.au

“Irrigators need to carefully check their eligibility, particularly in regards to their Whole Farm Plan and their Goulburn Murray Water Connections Program status,” he said.

Irrigators must register their interest by the deadline of 5pm on Friday 31st August, 2012 in order for their projects to be considered for Round 3 of the Farm Water Program. No late registrations will be accepted.

The Farm Water Program helps irrigators achieve farm water savings by funding upgrades to farm irrigation systems. The water savings are shared between farmers and the environment, with at least half the water savings transferred to the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder.

The Goulburn Broken CMA on behalf of the Farm Water Program has applied for funding from Round 3 of the Australian Government’s On-farm Irrigation Efficiency Program (OFIEP). The outcome of the application is expected to be announced mid-October.

The Goulburn Broken CMA acknowledges and respects First Nations people and the deep connection they have with their land and waters.

We acknowledge the Yorta Yorta and Taungurung people and their ancestors/forbears as Traditional Owners of the land and waters in the Goulburn Broken Catchment (and beyond). We value our ongoing partnerships with Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation and Taungurung Land and Waters Council for the health of Country and its people.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge and recognise the primacy of Traditional Owners obligations, rights and responsibilities to use and care for their traditional lands and waters.
