The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is holding a community drop-in session to discuss proposed new flood levels for Nagambie.
Goulburn Broken CMA Floodplain Program Manager, Guy Tierney, said flood levels will be made publicly available to assist in reducing community impacts from major floods.
Goulburn Broken CMA staff including floodplain program manager Guy Tierney will answer questions at a community drop-in session in Nagambie on the intention to declare new flood levels.
“This step will fill a gap in information for people building a house in Nagambie,” Mr Tierney said.
“Declared flood levels can be used for planning and building purposes and the information is available from the Goulburn Broken CMA website.
“Anyone who intends to build can access this information to ensure the finished floor levels of their property are at the correct height to avoid the risk of flooding in a 1 in 100 chance of occurrence in any given year.”
The proposed flood levels are based on the Nagambie Flood Study, completed in 2017.
The community drop-in session to learn more about the Goulburn Broken CMA’s intention to declare new flood levels for Nagambie is on Thursday 26 March from 4pm-6pm at the Nagambie Lakes Regatta Centre, 66 Loddings Lane.
“This is an opportunity to speak with CMA floodplain staff, find out more, ask questions and provide feedback,” Mr Tierney said.
The flood level plans are also available for inspection at the Catchment Management Authority offices located at: 168 Welsford Street Shepparton, 89 Sydney Road Benalla and 5/10 High Street Yea.
