Landcare Groups in the Mid Goulburn Broken Dryland have recently appointed three new Coordinators to assist with implementation and facilitation of their natural resource management programs.

Coordinators have been funded from Federal and State Landcare Programs, devised to ensure that Landcare groups throughout Victoria are enabled to concentrate their efforts on environmental projects.

Andrea Montgomery has been appointed Coordinator for Landcare Groups in the Northern part of the catchment which takes in the area from South Yarrawongathrough Dookie, to Lake Rowan and Devenish.

She was initially appointed to Dookie Land Management Group in 2003 and has been a resident of the Dookie region most of her life.

“I grew up on a dryland cropping and sheep farm just north of Dookie, giving me a keen interest in agriculture and environmental management. After graduating from Shepparton High I enrolled in an Agriculture course at DookieCollege.”

“I am working in a fairly large area taking in the Dookie Land Management Group, Sth Yarrawonga, Burramine/Tungamah, Peechelba/Wilby/Boomahnoomoonah, Devenish/Goorambat, and the Warby Ranges Landcare groups. I feel very comfortable to be working with Landcare in this region and hope to provide the assistance needed to reach our environmental goals,” she said.”

Andrea has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Agriculture from Dookie Collegeand has worked for two years in the Mallee as a research scientist near Ouyen and a Landcare Coodinator for the Mallee Landcare Group.

Andrea brings a great deal of Landcare experience to the district and is provided an office by the Dookie Campus Melbourne University, where she can be contacted on Ph 5833 9270.
