National Threatened Species Day is on 7 September, established to raise awareness and recognise the importance of conserving Australia’s unique biodiversity. The date was chosen to commemorate the death of the last surviving Tasmanian Tiger at the Hobart Zoo on this date in 1936.

The Shepparton Irrigation Region (SIR) is experiencing the highest watertables in almost three decades, according to the latest data from Goulburn-Murray Water.

This month, the critically endangered Swift Parrot is featured. With around just 500 of these beautiful birds remaining in the wild, the ‘Swiftie’ is listed as Critically Endangered under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
