Nominations are being sought for the 2012 Landcare Awards in the Goulburn Broken catchment. Local Landcare Groups, Networks and individuals will be honoured, at a dinner in August, for their dedication to natural resources projects and efforts to maintain sustainable land management practices.

Landcare Groups across the entire Goulburn Broken catchment have been invited to nominate their high achievers in four categories. These include: The Network Award for a network wide project, the Group Award for excellence in managing a local Landcare Project, The Education Award for ongoing engagement within the regional community, and The Hubert Miller Perpetual Trophy for excellence in community engagement at a local level.

The Awards consist of cash prizes, certificates of recognition and an accommodation package in Melbourne; all to be presented during a gala dinner at Raffety's Benalla on 3rd August 2012.

The Awards are sponsored by the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA), which has supported this form of recognition in the Landcare community for over ten years.

"We believe that the high achievers who give so generously of their time in the pursuit of better outcomes for our land and rivers should be recognised in a very tangible way," says Goulburn Broken CMA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chris Norman. "How better to thank them for their hard work and dedication, than to publicly honour their efforts in the company of their peers?"

The Awards and dinner will be facilitated by the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network (UGLN). Invitations and nomination forms have been distributed throughout Landcare Networks in the Goulburn Broken catchment and Groups are urged to ensure that their hard working members are nominated for recognition. Nominations for these awards close on 14th June 2012.

For further information contact Judy Watts UGLN Facilitator, Ph 5736 0100.
