Goulburn Broken CMA welcomes six new Board members

 The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA ) is pleased to welcome six new Board members, following the recent joint announcement by the Hon. Peter Walsh MP, Minister for Agriculture and Food Security and Minister for Water with the Hon. Ryan Smith MP, Minister for Environment and Climate Change and Minister for Youth Affairs.Goulburn Broken CMA Chair, Mr. Peter Ryan was delighted with the announcement and believes the six new members will make a valuable contribution to the Goulburn Broken CMA.

"The new directors bring a wealth of experience from a broad industry range and geographical spread across the catchment." Mr. Ryan said.

"Their local knowledge and expertise will provide an important role in the Goulburn Broken Catchment's natural resource management"

The appointment of all CMA Chairs was made in July this year, with Peter Ryan remaining on as the Goulburn Broken CMA Chair.

The new Goulburn Broken CMA Board consists of:

Mr. Peter Ryan, Chair

Mr. Ryan is a self-employed partner of an agriculture enterprise and continues as Chair of the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority Board.

Dr John Craven, new member

Dr Craven has been owner/operator of a farm in Terip Terip for the past 15 years before moving to Middle Park in recent times. He is a registered Veterinary Surgeon and currently self-employed as Director of Terip Solutions Pty Ltd.

Mr. Michael Dalmau, new member

Mr. Dalmau is currently a houseboat broker, a mediator for the Department of Justice's Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria, and voluntarily contributes to many community organizations.

Mrs. Ailsa Fox, new member

Mrs. Fox is a primary producer of many years with strong involvement in the VFF and is currently a partner in a farm in Merton

Mr. Alexander (Sandy) MacKenzie, new member

Mr. MacKenzie is a Landcare co-ordinator and executive member of the Victorian Landcare Council.

Mr. Ross Runnalls, new member

Mr. Runnalls is a rural landholder, former Regional Manager with VicForests, and now a self-employed forestry consultant.

Mrs. Catherine (Rien) Silverstein, new member

Mrs. Silverstein is a primary producer and self-employed as a partner of Silver Orchards. Mrs. Silverstein is Past President of VFF-Horticulture and a Coordinator and founder of Goulburn Valley Women in Horticulture.

Mr. Murray Chapman, existing member

Mr. Chapman is a partner in a family farm at Goomalibee, and is currently a director of RuralPlan Pty Ltd.

Mr. Russell Pell, existing member

Mr. Pell is a dairy farmer in the Shepparton Irrigation Region and is a member of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority's Basin Community Committee.

Goulburn Broken CMA and its Board are set up under the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994 and are accountable to both the Minister for Environment and Climate Change and the Minister for Water.

The new Board will undertake an induction tour of the region on October 12 and 13.

We acknowledge the Yorta Yorta and Taungurung people and their ancestors/forbears as Traditional Owners of the land and waters in the Goulburn Broken Catchment (and beyond). We value our ongoing partnerships with Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation and Taungurung Land and Waters Council for the health of Country and its people.


We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge and recognise the primacy of Traditional Owners obligations, rights and responsibilities to use and care for their traditional lands and waters.
