The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is currently undertaking assessments of past projects undertaken with landholder's to assess damage from recent flooding.
Wayne Tennant, Manager Strategic River Health said "The assessment information will be used to compile an application for State Government funding to restore or repair damage to assets. This follows regional flooding in March 2012".
"Eligible assets are those where the Goulburn Broken CMA has contributed funding and they are associated with a public asset, such as fencing along a waterway or creek. Unfortunately damage to private assets is not eligible under this bid for funding," added Mr Tennant
Areas assessed to date that have damage identified will be incorporated into the bid, including works along the Yallagallorrah, Wanalta, Boosey, Broken and Nine Mile Creeks. The major damage witnessed so far has been to fencing established along creeks and waterways.
Works which may be eligible for assistance include; restoration of works of the CMA which have been damaged by the flood, restoration of river erosion resulting from the flood (where such erosion exposes an immediate danger to works of the CMA or to public assets), emergency measures undertaken during the flood threatening works of the CMA or public assets from damage, and the removal of flood debris which poses an immediate threat of damage to works of the CMA or public assets.
If landholders believe they have damage which may be eligible to be included in this bid, and have not yet had contact with the Goulburn Broken CMA, they are urged to contact us on 5201 1100.
