Landcare Groups in the Mid Goulburn Broken Dryland have recently appointed three new Coordinators to assist with implementation and facilitation of their natural resource management programs.

Coordinators have been funded from Federal and State Landcare Programs, which have been devised to ensure that Landcare groups throughout Victoria are enabled to concentrate their efforts on environmental projects .

Allison Long is working in the western region around Nagambie, Waranga and Granite Creeks, and will assist the Cornella Landcare Group with implementation of their Local Area Plan.

“In my new role of Landcare Coordinator for the Granite Creeks, Nagambie, Cornellaand Waranga Landcare groups I look forward to working with landowners and hope to provide support and resources to better enable them to achieve their environmental goals.” She said.

With a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from the Dookie Campus, Melbourne University she worked part time for the Department of Primary Industries (Tatura) on a social research project looking at Stream Flow Management Plans and a viticulture projectin 2003.

Formerly from Queensland Allison lives on the family cattle farm near Broadford where she has established her own Braunvieh cattle stud which she shows competitively throughout the country. Her animals have had a very good showing interstate as well as locally.

Allison is active in her community as Head Cattle Steward of the Seymour Show and a finalist for the Young Citizen of the year in the Broadford area.

She is based at the DPI office in Seymourand can be contacted on Ph 5735 4350.
