The Upper Goulburn Implementation Committee (UGIC) is seeking nominations from Community Groups for three awards this year.
The Upper Goulburn Landcare Award for Excellence, now in its 8th year, is open for Landcare Groups to nominate a long standing committee person who has shown exceptional commitment to the Group and its ongoing sustainability.
The award consists of a luxury night for two at Sofitel Melbourne including dinner, and a certificate.
The Hubert Miller Perpetual Trophy and certificate is awarded to a community member who has shown long standing commitment to community engagement in the natural resources sector.
Nominations can come from all community sectors including schools, councils, Landcare, individuals and community groups.
A Group Award is also being offered to Landcare Groups who can demonstrate excellence in a major Landcare project. The award will be a fully funded group coach tour to the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne at a time to suit the winning group.
Groups are asked to submit a film/DVD, Powerpoint presentation, or video of their most significant environmental project.
The winning submission will be shown during the Awards dinner at Trawool Resort on Wednesday September 10th.
UGIC Chairman Chris Doyle said that the committee urges Landcare and community groups to take the opportunity to recognise their high achievers.
"There are so many ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the upper Goulburn community, that we believe their efforts should not be ignored," Mr Doyle said.
Nomination and application forms are available electronically and in hard copy from the Goulburn Goulburn Catchment Management Authority office in Yea.
Deadline for all nominations is August 22.
