The Upper Goulburn Implementation Committee (UGIC) comprises of eight community representatives appointed by the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA), for a period of four years, and is currently advertising committee positions throughout the upper Goulburn catchment.

The UGIC is one of three catchment-based committees appointed by the CMA to connect local communities with its' natural resource management responsibilities.

The CMA is a statutory authority established by the Victorian Government to coordinate land, water and biodiversity management in the region.

The Committees' prime function is to develop and oversee the implementation of the CMAs' annual natural resource management programs in the Upper Goulburn, in partnership with government agencies and authorities.

These programs deliver the relevant priorities of the Regional Catchment Strategy and those of the wider regional community and the diversity of natural resources; including impacts of European settlement on the fragile landscape, presents Implementation Committee Members with considerable challenges.

Major natural resource management issues in the upper catchment include water quality, waterway health, dryland salinity, weed and pest animal management, protection of native vegetation and biodiversity.

Committee positions become vacant on a rotating basis and retiring members are eligible for reappointment; however members of the upper Goulburn community who are committed to sustainability of the catchment are invited to apply for a position on the Implementation Committee by May 19.
