Fruit Industry Employment Program under way

Four Fruit Industry Employment Program (FIEP) crews will start work on environmental projects with Greater Shepparton and Moira councils, Parks Victoria and the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA) next week after completing induction and training this week.

Registrations of interest open for latest round of Farm Water Program funding

Northern Victorian irrigators have until 4pm Friday the 13th of September to register their interest in the latest round of Farm Water Program funding.

Funding available for fencing along the Broken/Boosey system

Landholders along the Broken/Boosey system are encouraged to contact the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA) to access funds through the Broken Boosey Flood Recovery Program to repair or re-instate fences lost or damaged during the March 2012 floods.

Projects to build and share community and Traditional Owner natural resource management (NRM) knowledge, protect the region's unique environment and support farmers to adopt soil management best practice will be funded through almost $17 million of funding secured by the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA) from the Commonwealth Government's Caring for our Country (CfoC) initiative.

Boxes built to protect micro-bats

Bat boxes built by Dookie Men's Shed members will help provide homes for micro-bats in the Broadford area.Dookie Men's Shed co-ordinator John Sims said the group had only been operating for about eight months and the bat box-building project was one of its first projects.

Soil program outcomes beyond expectations

Farmers who attended Beyond SoilCare events had a greater understanding of soil management practices, increased confidence to implement change and were more likely to discuss soil matters with neighbours or friends, according to a recent participant survey.Beyond SoilCare, funded through the Commonwealth Government's Caring for Our Country (CfOC) initiative and delivered by the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA), aims to improve landholders' knowledge and skills in soil management, as well as promote the importance of healthy soils and the work farmers do to the wider community.

Free information sessions on potential of environmental plantings to carbon sequestration
