Work to eradicate Cabomba is about to start around Jaycee Island, Lake Benalla, as part of the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority's and Benalla Rural City Council's (RCC) efforts to control the weed.

Twenty-seven people enjoyed a fabulous and informative day recently in the Heathcote-Graytown National Park with presenter David Meagher who is a lecturer on the social and natural environment at the annual Box Ironbark Ecology Course.
It's that time of year again when the Macquarie Perch enjoy the warmer waters and start their spawning cycle. Each year between October and December, when water temperatures exceed 16°C, the Macquarie Perch lay their eggs in riffles and runs of rocky streams. The eggs then drift downstream and lodge amongst the cobble and will stay there until they hatch 10-11 days later.
The Expression of Interest for Natural Resource Management Projects in the Goulburn Broken Catchment in 2013-14 is now open. The regional community, agencies and other stakeholders are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for projects that address priorities of the catchment community.
More than 75 per cent of the 148 projects funded through Round 1 of the Farm Water Program have now been completed.
A second spring flow fresh is to be released through the lower Goulburn River below Goulburn Weir in November.

Winter salt disposal from Public Groundwater Pumps in the Shepparton Irrigation Region has recently been completed. This is the first time in over a decade that winter salt disposal has occurred.

'Greater than Gold' is a farmer-led Landcare project working towards improved soil health in the Graytown-Costerfield region. The area is predominantly sheep grazing, with few cattle and some opportunity cropping.
