Landcare Links November 2021

18th November 2021

The Goulburn Broken region has many innovative farmers who are trialling technology to improve their soil and water management to create efficiencies within their farming business.

One farmer is trialling nutirent mapping through a project hosted by South West Goulburn Landcare Network. This project is employing precision soil sampling, which uses a grid to sample the paddock. The farmer then applies fertiliser and lime to areas of the paddock more accurately, potentially reducing the overall cost of these inputs. It is supported by Ag Vic who is integrating planned grazing and Lisa Warn Ag Consulting who is monitoring the pasture annually. This is a four year project funded through the Goulburn Broken CMA's 'From the Ground Up' project.

There are other projects and farmers utilising this technology around the Goulburn Broken. If you are interested in understanding this project further or the difference that nutirent mapping could make to your farm please contact Brad Costin  brad.costin@agriculture.vic.gov.au.

Warm Regards,
Kerstie
