Round 2 of the Carbon + Biodiversity Pilot now open! Now Aussie farmers in 6 new eligible NRM regions can apply.

The pilot is part of the Australian Government’s Agriculture Biodiversity Stewardship Package, where farmers receive payment for plantings that deliver biodiversity and carbon abatement. It’s part of their work to develop a voluntary biodiversity market.

Goulburn Broken CMA are the local NRM partner helping the government to implement the pilot in our region, helping to ensure it works for our landholders.

Understanding soils: An introduction to Soil Science Principles Short Course

On  Thursday 10th Feb - Friday 11th Feb, Soils Science Australia is hosting a short course in the fundementals of soil science including soil physical, chemical and biological properties and soil survey and classification.

Cost: Course $350, Dinner $40; Accommodation & breakfast $100; Field trip (inc lunch) $40 - register and pay by Feb 1 2022 or contact Dr Bhawana Bhatta  bbhatta@unimelb.edu.au for further information.

Grants Available

Future Drought Fund: Drought Resilient Soils and Landscapes Grants Program open now and due on the 11th January 2021.

This grant targeting at improving the drought resilience of agriculture; involve trial and demonstration of practices to improve management of natural capital in ways that directly support drought resilience  focused on achieving and measuring impacts at scale, particularly landscape scale; provide “case studies” to support “scaling out” of successful practices through robust monitoring, measurement and communication of project impacts; are valued between $500,000 and $1 million; delivered over April 2022 to June 2024.

For the latest Landcare in Focus magazine which highlights Andrew Stewart who is the Bob Hawke Landcare Award Winner; rock chutes to control erosion and a sustainable beef cattle enterprise.
