From the Fringe to the Mainstream

From the Fringe to the Mainstream – a strategic plan for integrating native biodiversity 2004-2007 (Goulburn Broken Catchment). The purpose of this plan, also referred to as the Biodiversity Integration Strategy (BIS), was to achieve biodiversity outcomes by increasing the capacity of stakeholders, including partner organisations and groups, to make better decisions. This entailed using funds more wisely and encouraging increased investment in biodiversity.

The decade leading up to this Strategy had seen a dramatic increase in concern for the plight of biodiversity and the ramifications of its decline.

A number of background papers were prepared for the BIS  to  be developed.  These are:

The Goulburn Broken CMA acknowledges and respects First Nations people and the deep connection they have with their land and waters.

We acknowledge the Yorta Yorta and Taungurung people and their ancestors/forbears as Traditional Owners of the land and waters in the Goulburn Broken Catchment (and beyond). We value our ongoing partnerships with Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation and Taungurung Land and Waters Council for the health of Country and its people.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge and recognise the primacy of Traditional Owners obligations, rights and responsibilities to use and care for their traditional lands and waters.
