Posted on 27 June, 2012
The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA) wishes to thank the communities of Kilmore, Kinglake, Yea and Mansfield for meeting with us at our Community Catchment Forums over the past two weeks and invite the rest of the catchment community to come along and have your say....it's not too late!
The Goulburn Broken CMA is currently renewing the Regional Catchment Strategy, which sets the priorities for managing natural resources over the next 6 years.
"We are nearly halfway through the Regional Catchment Strategy Community Forums, thank you to those who have attended the forums so far. The feedback and engagement about issues relating to local communities and the environment has been very helpful." explains Regional Catchment Community Manager, Mrs Helen Murdoch.
"The conversations we have had so far have helped enormously in getting right the descriptions of landscapes and communities, issues and actions in these parts of the catchment for our Regional Catchment Strategy. We very much appreciate the community input" continues Mrs Murdoch
"These community forums are part of our commitment to a whole of catchment community engagement on the bigger issues."
"These Community Forums along with the online strategy development website WeConnect.gbcma.vic.gov.au are designed to give all members of the public within our catchment the ability to have their say and be involved" explains Goulburn Broken CMA CEO, Mr Chris Norman.
"It is vitally important that everyone has the opportunity to be involved and we actively encourage members of the public to attend these Regional Catchment Strategy Community Forums, we invite you to come along for a cuppa and a chat with others from your community about local natural resource management issues" says Mr Norman
"Members of the public can also follow the progress of the Regional Catchment Strategy at our online strategy development website www.WeConnect.gbcma.vic.gov.au" explains Helen "This is an exciting new direction for the Catchment Management Authority as the WeConnect website allows members to be actively involved during the drafting of the Regional Catchment Strategy, not just at the end."
We still have the following forums at Dookie, Tatura, Nathalia and Marysville available for you to come along and help us verify our regional data to ensure we are on the right track.
