iSpy Catchment Creatures
The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority in partnership with Museum Victoria has developed the iSpy Frogs App (mobile device application). The app contains descriptions of twenty frogs found within the Goulburn Broken Catchment and allows users to record frog sightings at the push of a button.
Frog sightings are displayed on the map below and will be used to improve our understanding of the distribution of frog populations across the catchment. It can also assist us with protecting threatened Frog species such as the Growling Grass Frog.
Improvements to the functionality of the map are currently being considered. These include allowing iSpy Frogs app users to display and export their frog sightings to their own designated email address. The Goulburn Broken CMA is also considering developing a series of iSpy apps for other fauna and flora found in the Catchment called iSpy Catchment Creatures.
If you have any questions or comments regarding the iSpy Frogs app, this map and/or the frog sighting records please contact the Goulburn Broken CMA Shepparton Office, via telephone (03) 5820 1100 or email reception@gbcma.vic.gov.au
The iSpy Frogs app and the Museum Victoria’s Field Guide to Victorian Fauna app can be downloaded free from the App Store. Currently iSpy Frogs is only available for Apple iPhone, iPod and iPad devices.
A complementary iSpy Frogs field guide and ‘A guide to Reptiles and Frogs Booklet’ have been developed and can be sourced from Goulburn Broken CMA offices.
