The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (GBCMA) has been successful in obtaining funding for four years from 2008/09 to 2011/12 to undertake a large scale river restoration project on the Goulburn River. The project is funded by the Victorian State Government.

The four year Goulburn Large Scale River Restoration (LSRR) project aims to protect and enhance the values associated with the Goulburn River and its associated floodplain and riparian zones.
