General Criteria for Assessment
Along with meeting priority actions and locations in the Priorities Documents and sub-strategies, the following criteria are also considered when aligning projects with fund sources and other constraints.
- Is there alignment between the problem to be addressed and the regional or state priorities?
- Is the proposed action relevant to addressing the threat?
- Is the proposal technically sound?
- Are the costs realistic costs? For example $/ha of revegetation, $/km of fencing.
- Capacity to deliver – does the project ensure the appropriate skills, resources and technical knowledge will be available? This will include consideration of past performance.
- Is there demonstrated support from relevant agency, partners, community groups.
- Cost share. Most projects need at least matching funds in-kind or cash from proponents to be considered an attractive investment by funders.
