Environmental Management Incentives – Dryland

Landholders who wish to carry out fencing of remnant native vegetation and revegetation of native species in priority areas of the catchment may be eligible for financial assistance.

Financial incentives are graded depending on the level of multiple benefits for the environment - such as addressing salinity and high water tables, improving biodiversity and water quality.

Financial Incentives for Environmental Works

In the Goulburn Broken Dryland grants are available for fencing of remnant vegetation and revegetation of indigenous species.

Priorities for grant funding are:

  • Protecting endangered remnant vegetation.
  • Enhancement of remnant vegetation eg. planting understorey.
  • Revegetation to link existing stands of remnant vegetation.
  • Protecting threatened species habitat.
  • Revegetation of high priority sites for salinity (recharge and discharge areas).

Shepparton Irrigation Region Environmental Grants

In the Shepparton Irrigation Region environmental and tree growing grants are available for biodiversity protection and enhancement, and tree planting for salinity and watertable management.

Grants are available for fencing and revegetation activities (including direct seeding).

Waterway Grants

Financial incentives are available for fencing and revegetation works to prevent or repair degradation along waterways.  Financial incentives are graded depending on the level of multiple benefits provided by the works - such as improving water quality, protecting native vegetation and improving biodiversity.

Grants are available for:

  • Fencing for grazing control.
  • Revegetation with indigenous trees, shrubs and grasses.
  • Off-stream watering points for stock.

Works such as bed and bank stabilisation, exotic vegetation control and in-stream habitat enhancement may also be undertaken the by Goulburn Broken CMA in conjunction with the waterways grants.
