Dhurringile and District Local Area Plan
Vision: Integrated Community Management
MissionStatement: The development of a community driven integrated management system to ensure a sustainable land, social and economic environment in the Dhurringile district.
Area: 29,360 Hectares
Launched: To be launched middle of 2004, The plan is currently been finalised by the community planning group.
Issues covered in the plan:
- Soil and water
- Environment
- Social Issues
- Education and training
- Landuse and planning
- Infrastructure
- Demographics
Priorities:
- Educating the community, particularly school aged children about the impacts that farming has on the environment, and how they are being addressed by the Shepparton Irrigation Region
- Litter management in the area, with particular interest in reducing the usage of plastic shopping bags.
- Linking the Waranga Basin to the River via a wildlife corridor along Orr Rd.
