A conservation covenant is an agreement between a landowner and Trust for Nature, which protects and enhances the conservation values of a piece of land.

A conservation covenant is an agreement between a landowner and Trust for Nature, which protects and enhances the conservation values of a piece of land. The covenant is registered on the title. This enables landowners to ensure that future owners respect the conservation values that they have worked so hard to protect.
In the Goulburn Broken Catchment some of the municipalities offer rate rebates for land covered by a conservation covenant under the Trust for Nature scheme. Currently the City of Greater Shepparton and the Shire of Moira offer rate rebates.
